LFC Enters 2001 Grammys Under Multiple Categories

LFC made it's entry into the 43rd Grammys for 2001. LFC completed the four phase application process and delivered copies of its CD on September 14th, four days before the deadline for the final round of entries. The entry was made under four categories:

1.) Song: "Friend Of Mine, Columbine"
Category: Song of the Year
Artists: Jonathan and Stephen Cohen

2.) Song: "We Will Always Remember"
Category: Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals
Artists: Rachael Lampa, Winston Ford, Taylor Mesple' and Sydney Hostetler

3.) Song: "Lullaby For Columbine"
Category: Best Instrumental Composition
Artist: Michael Tamburello

4.) Craft Field: Best Recording Package:
Art Director: Laurel Malenke

"Initially, we wanted to submit our CD under the 'Historical' category which would credit our mastering engineer, David Glasser." said executive producer, Michael Tamburello, who worked closely with the academy during the submission process. "The rules, however, were further clarified to us by NARAS's staff that the music had to be already historic such as old recordings which were then remastered. Being a first time participant in the Grammy process, it was quite an education. Thanks to the kind help of everyone at the Recording Academy, the process wasn't really that difficult once you became familiar with the process - in fact it went real smooth, especially since it is now done completely online."

The awards event is hosted by the Recording Academy, known formally as the National Academy of the Recording Arts and Sciences. The organization was founded in 1957 by a visionary group of music professionals and label executives in Los Angeles who recognized the need to create an organization that would represent the creative people in the recording arts and sciences.

The founding members of the Recording Academy wanted to recognize and celebrate the artistic achievement of not only talented musicians and singers but also important, behind-the-scenes contributors such as producers and engineers. Conceived as a way to create a real recording industry community and address some of these concerns, the Recording Academy was born and the GRAMMY Awards process began.

The academy also plays an important role in education as cofounder of the National Coalition for Music Education, an advocacy group of music educators and professionals who promote the value of music education, as well as the influence of music and the other arts on child development on a national, state and local level, and a champion for the powerful healing influence of music therapy and its importance as a medical treatment.

As the "parent organization" to the charitable MusicCares Foundation and the GRAMMY Foundation, the Academy also works to protect and support music people in crisis, and provide young people with "real world" exposure to music and the music industry.

We will update our readers on the status of our Grammy entries which are proud to participate in. To learn more about this wonderful organization, you can visit their main website at http://www.grammy.com.
